Job Summary The Eugene McDermott Library at the University of Texas at Dallas seeks a collaborative and detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills and a flexible mindset. This position will perform copy cataloging of the Wildenstein Plattner Library (WPL) collection and conduct inventory checks against the library catalog. The WPL includes monographs, serials, rare books, and art catalogues, with more than half of the materials in foreign languages.

This position is part of the Metadata Services Department and reports to the Metadata Coordinator. It is a two-year funded role with an annual salary of $36,421.

Minimum Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a library setting; or any comparable combination of education and practical experience may be considered.

Other Qualifications To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform copy cataloging in accordance with RDA, MARC21, and AACR standards.

Utilize the OCLC bibliographic database to locate and import records into the Alma system.

Edit bibliographic records to meet local standards, including creating holdings and item records.

Carry out name and series authority work for cataloged materials, as well as special authority clean-up projects.

Perform physical processing customized for designated holding locations.

Conduct inventory checks against the library catalog and make evaluation slips for Wildenstein librarians with notes indicating signed copies or any other unique characteristics of the materials.

Research and identify the most reasonable price of the donated resources to facilitate collection development decisions.

When a print copy exists in stacks, update bibliographic and holding records and add a Wildenstein book plate to the existing copy.

Create an inventory for unwanted items by collecting metadata like titles, authors, publishers, and publication dates.

Pack unwanted items and get them ready for surplus.

Maintain compliance with all workplace policies and procedures, including expectations for attendance, punctuality, break schedules, and dress code.

Other related duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Must be capable of lifting, carrying, and managing materials weighing up to 15lbs.

Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods while performing various tasks.
