Ford Motor Company
Job Description
We are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. We get up every day, roll up our sleeves and build a better world -- together. At Ford, we’re all a part of something bigger than ourselves. Are you ready to change the way the world moves?
Digital Product Design (DPD) at Ford is committed to envisioning and creating simple, thoughtful, enjoyable, and compelling product experiences that our customers need and love. We work in close partnership with product and engineering to deliver best‑in‑class interaction experiences that meet the needs of people today, and in the future. Our team is comprised of a dynamic group of product designers, researchers, visual designers, industrial designers, modelers, and project managers.
The Experience Strategy & Design team is dedicated to shaping the next generation of in‑vehicle experiences. Rather than focusing on one‑off feature‑driven solutions, this team integrates new ideas into cohesive experiences that reflect core customer desires and feel purposeful within the vehicle ecosystem/lifestyle. Working closely with the HCD team, engineering, and product, the team transforms early concepts into tangible prototypes, validating what’s possible and ensuring that the most exciting ideas can actually be realized.
In this position … As a Lead Designer on the Experience Strategy & Design team, you will combine strategy, design, and prototyping to bring new in‑vehicle experiences to life. You’ll transform loosely defined concepts into clear, testable journeys that can be built and scaled. Your work will span user flows, interaction models, and holistic customer journeys, with a focus on making innovative features feel intuitive, integrated, and valuable.
What You’ll Do …
Translate early concepts into practical, testable prototypes.
Define customer journeys, flows, and processes that connect new features into cohesive experiences.
Partner with engineers and technologists to explore feasibility, rapidly test ideas, and refine concepts.
Collaborate across design, engineering, and product teams to ensure experiences align with customer needs and technical realities.
Distill complex information into clear strategies, frameworks, and narratives that drive alignment.
Proactively identify opportunities to integrate new technologies into meaningful, customer‑driven experiences.
You’ll have …
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Proven experience in UX, interaction, and experience design, within complex ecosystems (Ford, Rivian, McDonalds, Tock, Disney Parks).
Strength in systems thinking and mapping end‑to‑end journeys.
Comfortable working in ambiguous spaces where outcomes aren’t defined yet.
Skilled at collaborating across disciplines, building bridges between design, engineering, and strategy.
Strong communication and storytelling abilities, with a knack for making complex ideas clear and compelling.
You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!
Benefits
Immediate medical, dental, vision and prescription drug coverage
Flexible family care days, paid parental leave, new parent ramp‑up programs, subsidized back‑up child care and more
Family building benefits including adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement, fertility treatments, and more
Vehicle discount program for employees and family members and management leases
Tuition assistance
Established and active employee resource groups
Paid time off for individual and team community service
A generous schedule of paid holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day
Paid time off and the option to purchase additional vacation time.
This position is a leadership level 6.
