This role goes beyond email marketing execution. The ideal candidate understands the architecture of Marketing Cloud, can troubleshoot technical issues, build and optimize journeys, manage data extensions, create reusable components, and partner with internal stakeholders to deliver highly personalized customer experiences.

This person should be comfortable working autonomously, proactively identifying system improvements, and collaborating with cross-functional partners. Strong communication skills are a must, as this role interfaces with marketing, IT, product, and leadership to manage multiple campaigns and initiatives across several brands.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

Build, maintain, and optimize Salesforce Marketing Cloud journeys, automations, user roles, data extensions, and triggered sends.

Develop dynamic and personalized content using AMPScript and basic.

Write and troubleshoot SQL queries in Automation Studio to support segmentation, data hygiene, and audience management.

Maintain platform governance, including naming conventions, folder structure, permissioning, and documentation.

Email & Front-End Execution

Implement A/B and multivariate tests across journeys and campaigns using MC’s native tools.

Ensure all email designs are mobile-optimized, accessible, and aligned with brand standards.

Data, Reporting & Optimization

Own list and data extension management across business units to ensure accurate targeting and segmentation.

Monitor automations, resolve errors, and ensure data flows correctly between Marketing Cloud and Salesforce CRM.

Assist in creating dashboards and reporting to evaluate KPIs, campaign performance, deliverability, and platform health.

Analyze trends, identify optimization opportunities, and present insights to stakeholders.

Partner with marketing teams to translate campaign objectives into scalable Marketing Cloud solutions.

Create technical briefs for campaigns outlining data requirements, personalization rules, triggers, and QA steps.

Propose new features, automation opportunities, and enhancements to improve efficiency and personalization.

Support governance, compliance, CAN-SPAM policies, and platform best practices.

Education, Work Experience, & Knowledge

Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

2–3+ years hands‑on experience in Salesforce Marketing Cloud (not just email execution) required.

Experience working with AMPScript, SQL, HTML, and CSS strongly preferred.

Salesforce Marketing Cloud Email Specialist or Administrator certification is a plus.

Experience with Account Engagement (Pardot) is also a plus.

Proficient in AMPScript and capable of writing/adjusting personalization logic.

Ability to write and optimize SQL queries for segmentation and automations.

Strong understanding of Marketing Cloud Studios and Builders (Email, Journey, Automation, Content, Cloud Pages).

Skilled in troubleshooting send errors, automation failures, data issues, and configuration problems.

Able to build responsive emails and landing pages with HTML/CSS.

Strong understanding of email deliverability, list hygiene, subscriber management, and compliance.

Detail‑oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms.

Experience with Workfront or other project management systems is a plus.
