SUMMARY The Assistant Video Analyst is a full-time position supporting the Director of Video Analysis, Head Coach, and Coaching Staff. The primary focus of this position is the capture, coding, and tagging of all RSL training sessions and matches. The Assistant Video Analyst will collaborate with technical staff to produce scouting reports, video highlights, and analytic presentations used to prepare for upcoming opponents and review past performances.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Capture and coding of all first-team training sessions and matches within Hudl Sportscode
Produce training and match clips for review, including half-time, post-match, and live analysis
Create and distribute video content, highlights, and presentations for staff and players
Deliver individual and team performance analysis to coaches and players
Support the development of opponent scouting reports (individual and team analysis)
Utilize analysis tools and software (e.g., Coach Paint, Tactics Pro, Hudl Sportscode, Wyscott, Statsbomb, Second Spectrum) to produce high-quality analytics and visuals
Manage, maintain, and operate all club AV and video equipment, including the Mavic Air 2S drone fleet
Maintain the club’s video database and ensure proper organization of all video assets
Coordinate with the coaching staff to provide timely video and analytical resources
Assist with live video and analysis workflows during home and away matches
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Video Analysis, Head Coach, and Coaching Staff
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 3+ years of coaching experience at an elite level (academy, college, semi-pro, or professional)
Strong understanding of professional soccer with a passion for tactical analysis, player development, and performance evaluation
Proficiency in managing large video files and maintaining an organized video database
Experience with data analysis and analytics platforms such as Hudl, Wyscott, Statsbomb, and Spiideo
Proficiency in video coding tools, specifically Hudl Sportscode, including cutting, tagging, and distributing video through the Hudl platform
Experience operating drones, camcorder systems, and performing live coding
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other Microsoft applications, with a commitment to staying current with emerging technologies and best practices
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse groups and within a team environment
Professional, organized, respectful, and consistent in interactions with players and staff
Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Self-driven and capable of working independently while also following guidance and directio
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel
Must comply with all MLS Safety Policiesand Real Salt Lake child safety requirements
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT The job requires regularly lifting/pushing up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifting/pushing more than 50 pounds or exerting heavy force, in a wide disparity or environmental conditions.
