Summary Are you a technically skilled and creative individual with a passion for television production? Rhode Island PBS is seeking a
Television Technician
to join our dynamic Production team. In this hands‑on role, you’ll be instrumental in supporting all facets of our studio and field productions, as well as station operations. You’ll apply your technical expertise to a variety of tasks, including operating studio cameras, managing graphics, handling lighting, shading cameras, and mixing audio during recordings. Additionally, your editing skills will be crucial in delivering high‑quality production projects. If you have a background in technical operations, lighting, shooting, and editing, or equivalent work experience, we encourage you to apply!
What You’ll Do
Operating studio equipment: Expertly run studio cameras, manage lighting, and control audio during the recording of Rhode Island PBS studio programming.
Post‑production: Edit Rhode Island PBS programming to meet broadcast standards.
Equipment setup: Install and configure TV lighting and audio equipment within the studio.
Field production: Operate electronic field production (EFP) equipment on location for various shoots.
Master control: Operate master control equipment to ensure smooth broadcast operations.
What You’ll Bring
Relevant Education/Experience:
Education in Broadcasting Communications with a strong focus on technical operations, shooting, and editing, or substantially equivalent work experience.
Editing Proficiency:
Demonstrated skills in video editing software, particularly Final Cut Pro and/or Adobe Premiere.
Camera Operation:
Proven ability to operate field video cameras effectively.
Technical Acumen:
Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, Apple, and Linux Operating Systems.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Comfortable working standing for extended periods.
Logistics:
Must have appropriate transportation for travel to and from work and off‑site locations as needed.
Team Player:
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
Adaptability:
Willingness and ability to take direction and thrive under tight deadlines.
