Part Time Faculty Interest Pool – Music Portland Community College is accepting applications to be considered for part‑time faculty assignments in Music. The Department will review applications in this pool as the need arises for new part‑time faculty in this area. Your application may be considered for substitute assignments as well as full‑term class assignments. Program Overview The Music program offers a range of courses in theory, performance, technology, and ear training. Instructor Qualifications Master’s degree or higher in Music (MM, MS, MA, PhD, or DMA) Minimum of six graduate quarter credits in music theory For Music Performance courses (MUS 131, 153A‑C, 158A‑F, 195A‑F, 220A‑F, 221A‑F): Master’s degree or higher in Music (MM, MS, MA, PhD, or DMA) OR equivalent professional experience (six or more years) performing, conducting, recording, and/or teaching For Music Technology courses (MUS 170, 171, 172): Master’s degree or higher in Music (MM, MS, MA, PhD, or DMA) Minimum of six years of experience in music engineering, mixing, mastering, sound design, or production For Music Theory and Sight Singing/Sound Training courses (MUS 111, 111C, 112, 112C, 113, 113C, 211A, 211B, 212, 212B, 213, 213B): Master’s degree or higher in Music (MM, MS, MA, PhD, or DMA) Minimum of six graduate quarter credits in music theory Academic Credentials Official transcripts must be submitted within two weeks of the offer date for all required degrees. Instructors must hold credentials from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or an overseas institution with equivalent regional accreditation. Foreign credentials will be evaluated by agencies with good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. Compensation and Benefits Part‑time faculty will generally start at Step 1 of the current salary schedule. Hourly rates are determined based upon the type of course taught (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture/Lab). Benefits through PCC may include Oregon Sick Leave and retirement savings plans.
