Overview The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking an

INSTRUCTIONAL MEDIA SPECIALIST

to act as a multimedia creation specialist for the office. The role involves hands‑on work in the production of specialized multimedia instructional products, such as educational videos and associated aids, PDFs, and interactive computer‑based activities for distance education and other formats. The specialist will also serve as the primary administrator for the campus video platform, respond to faculty requests for LMS assistance with a focus on multimedia, provide group training on related technologies, and stay current with educational technologies.

Responsibilities

Create and edit videos as needed.

Manage the video repository (Kaltura).

Advise and consult with faculty on best use of video in courses.

Create learning objects with tools such as HP5, Articulate, and others.

Support the OLT systems administrator in managing all systems in the unit.

Assist in managing and directing student workers in their tasks.

Assist in delivering Teaching with Technology workshops.

Maintain the institutional knowledge base on technologies, practices, and programs that can be deployed across multiple domains.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in media, instructional media, computer technology, or related field.

At least 3 years of related experience.

Master's degree preferred.

Intermediate to advanced video production skills.

Basic HTML/CSS skills.

Knowledge of pedagogical principles is a plus.

Work experience does not substitute for the education requirement.

Compensation Salary Range: $50,050 to $81,000 with an expected hiring salary of $58,718.
