JR102638The Preconstruction, Virtual Design and Construction Lead Designer’s is two parts the first role is to work closely with our in-house or outside partner’s VDC Team to ensure Comfort Systems USA Southwest (CSUSA-SW) standard practices are fully incorporated into the mechanical and/or plumbing systems designs to the extent allowed by the project requirements. The second part is to model and interpret the design intent into a constructable building.The following includes, but are not limited to, the essential duties and responsibilities of this position. (Other duties may be assigned).* Participate in constructability meetings to understand the project scope of work and all changes that are being proposed.

Work with the Construction Project Manager to finalize and agree to the project’s VDC Scope of Work and list of deliverables* Assist with and provide the CSUSA-SW Project Executive and/or Engineer, RFI language and documentation to support RFI, as necessary* Work in a collaborative manner with our client (General Contractor), their customer (Project Owner) and their design team (Architect and Engineer of Record) as required to coordinate the mechanical and/or plumbing systems required of the project.

When conflicts and collisions arise, provide alternate solutions and suggestions including other trade’s adjustments* Outside of any meetings required by the client and their design team, meet with the VDC Team (in person or via teleconference) on a weekly, to understand challenges, resolve issues in its development in order to meet CSUSA project expectations* Reviews completeness and accuracy of BIM model and all associated working plans and detail drawings.* Identify and communicate immediately to the VDC Manager any issues that may cause delays with completion of the BIM and associated drawings* Work collaboratively with the Project Executive, foremen and/or project engineer in reviewing the BIM model, associated deliverable and drawings so they fully understand the product they will be receiving.

The VDC Lead Designer will address all concerns as they are brought to their attention* Develop VDC documentation and guidelines to communicate to our VDC partners the processes and procedures that they be required to adhere to during duration of the project* Maintain and increase discipline design specifics to continually improve mechanical duct, pipe and plumbing.* Engage with internal project teams to support the creation/maintenance/health of projects.* Work with external stakeholders such as Architects, Engineers, General Contractors, or trade Contractors on a range of projects.* Support the project team with technical delivery using various software.* Read and interpret construction documentation for one or more disciplines.* Assist in the coordination of models both internally and externally.* Produce products with minimal to no re-work.* Execute assigned tasks within allotted parameters.* Maintain working knowledge of all programs and platforms required for role.* Support business development initiatives**QUALIFICATIONS:**To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.**LANGUAGE SKILLS:**Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Must be able to read and evaluate project construction documents, plans and specifications.**MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:**Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.**COMPUTER/SOFTWARE SKILLS:**Ability to use MS Office Excel and Word.

Experience with Navisworks, Bluebeam, and Autodesk software including Revit Fabrication is required.**REASONING ABILITY:**Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.**PHYSICAL DEMANDS:**The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
