About this Role The Communications Manager, Energy Access is a strategic role tasked with shaping and amplifying the narrative around Acumen’s Energy portfolio. The successful candidate will bring a strategic mindset and excellent communication skills, translating complex ideas into engaging narratives. This position requires collaboration across teams to manage and deliver high-quality content, ensuring that all communications align with Acumen’s values and mission. Engaging external vendors to produce compelling content and leading campaign initiatives from concept through execution form crucial aspects of this role. The position is based in New York City and operates under a hybrid model, requiring three days per week in the office. The manager will play a pivotal role in managing external communications, developing and executing strategies across digital, press, partnership, and event channels to support Acumen’s Energy initiatives.
Responsibilities
Manage all external communications for Acumen’s Energy portfolio.
Develop and execute strategies for internal and external communications across various channels, including digital, press, partners, and events.
Brief and prepare leadership with talking points for events, meetings, and press opportunities.
Collaborate with the Communications Team and internal stakeholders to align communications campaigns and content with Acumen’s calendar.
Partner with the Office of the CEO to craft messaging across multiple channels.
Support proactive media engagement, including research, tracking, and pitching stories.
Manage relationships with freelancers, consultants, and vendors to produce quality content.
Track and ensure project documentation such as contracts, Scopes of Work, and timeline planning.
Requirements
Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in communication, ideally within social impact, nonprofit, or energy sectors.
Experience in creating strategies and messaging across various communication channels.
Proficiency in media relations and experience in executing events.
Ability to translate complex ideas into compelling narratives.
Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work with stakeholders at different levels.
