About this role The Assistant Manager, Brand Communications supports communications efforts for the USGA brand initiatives, inclusive of the USGA Green Section, innovation, governance, GHIN, Handicapping and career development at the USGA. This position will draft and edit original communications content, including press releases, talking points and key messaging, as well as help generate and coordinate media coverage. It requires development of positive and transparent relationships with key internal stakeholder groups, PR agency and media members.
What you’ll do
Activate against PR plans and campaigns focused on unifying, governing, and advancing golf.
Pitch both endemic and non-endemic media outlets to extend the reach of the USGA.
Support overall Communications efforts by building and maintaining updated media lists, assisting with daily USGA media clips, while also identifying new outlets and writers to work with.
Build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including USGA PR agency of record and endemic media, to successfully execute on earned media outputs.
Travel to support championship PR leads at USGA championships, as needed.
Where you’ll be This role will be based at our Liberty Corner, NJ campus on a hybrid schedule. Employees are expected to spend 3 days per week working in the office, between Monday – Thursday. This person will also travel to USGA championship sites as needed.
What you bring
Bachelors degree or equivalent with a focus on communications, media relations, or journalism.
2+ years of relevant experience working in PR, communications, journalism or media relations.
Familiarity with golf is strongly preferred.
General communications, media relations, organizational and relationship‑building skills; familiarity with special events and the ability to multi‑task; a positive attitude and a team‑oriented mentality; ability to display consistent initiative that reflects innovative thinking.
Knowledge of reporting and PR‑related systems and tools (Meltwater) a plus.
Ability to travel, as needed.

Salary Range Annual base salary range: $60,000 – $72,000.
