Job Description
Writing Consultants support Antioch students by providing constructive, supportive feedback on academic and professional writing.
Consultants work with students from a variety of disciplines and degree programs, assisting with writing projects at any stage of the process—from brainstorming and outlining to revision and final polishing.
Peer Consultants offer feedback through synchronous sessions on Zoom.
In addition to working directly with students, Peer Consultants collaborate with Writing Center staff to develop and facilitate virtual workshops on writing-related topics and participate in regular training and professional development to strengthen their own writing and tutoring skills.
Approximate Hours Per Week (6–10 hours total):
5–7 hours providing one‑one writing support through synchronous Zoom sessions.
1–2 hours developing and facilitating virtual workshops.
1–2 hours attending staff meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.
1 hour managing email communication and appointment logistics.
Qualifications
Strong writing skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
Interest in supporting fellow students through collaborative, peer‑to‑peer learning.
Ability to provide constructive and encouraging feedback on a wide range of academic and professional writing.
Comfortable working independently in a remote environment and managing a flexible schedule.
Experience with Zoom and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, etc.) or willingness to learn.
Commitment to attending regular trainings and participating in ongoing professional development.
