Principal Plumbing Designer Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced Principal Plumbing Designer to lead plumbing design activities for nuclear facilities and other complex engineering projects. The ideal candidate will possess advanced-level expertise across all aspects of plumbing design, software proficiency, codes/standards knowledge, and diverse industry experience. Responsibilities Highly skilled in computer-aided design (CAD) with demonstrated experience with computer-aided design applications Use drafting applications to originate and produce drawings and 3D models of moderate to advanced complexity 3D modeling experience required (S3D preferred) Read, interpret, and generate design drawings of moderate to advanced complexity with minimal supervision from engineering Ability to walk down field systems with minimal guidance, interpret field direction, generate advanced design details, create new drawings, modify existing drawings, and direct, check and approve work done by other designers Ability to develop estimates, schedules, staffing requirements, progress reports, key quantities tracking reports, project scope of services, scope of facilities, etc. Required Qualifications Basic Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen Must have a working knowledge of Federal (including Department of Energy Orders), State, and Local codes and standards applicable to specialized (nuclear or other areas) engineering design A combination of education and 15 years’ experience (associate degree preferred) in drafting related to Engineering and Construction (nuclear preferred) Background and experience must include drafting/designer experience in engineering fields, such as electrical, mechanical, structural, communications, architectural, fire protection or civil Advanced Design Experience (Required in ALL areas) Process Drainage Design Domestic Water System Design Sanitary Waste Design Storm Drain (Roof Drainage) Design Safety Shower Location Analyses Water Heater Design Riser Diagrams / Utility Flow Diagrams Process & Instrumentation Diagrams Piping Isometrics Advanced Software Proficiency (Required in ALL areas) AFT Fathom Microsoft Word Microsoft Excel Navisworks Smart 3D (S3D) Other Design Systems (CAD platforms) Advanced Codes/Standards Knowledge (Required in ALL areas) International Plumbing Code National Plumbing Code ANSI/ISEA Z358.1 (Emergency Eyewash and Shower Equipment) ASME B31.3 (Process Piping) ASME NQA-1 (Quality Assurance Requirements for Nuclear Facility Applications) OSHA 1910 and 1926 Advanced EPC Project Industry Experience (Required in ALL areas) Nuclear Facilities Commercial Pharmaceutical/Biotech Manufacturing Oil & Gas/Chemicals Preferred Qualifications LEED Accredited Professional (AP) ASPE Certified in Plumbing Design (CPD) Additional industry certifications related to plumbing design Benefits HukariAscendent offers an excellent benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, 401(k) plan, and paid time off.
