Job Summary
A senior mechanical designer is needed for a global engineering, construction and project management company in the Ogden, UT area. This is a Senior Mechanical Design/Drafting role supporting the Sentinel Program by preparing and reviewing intelligent 2D CAD P&IDs for utility systems (plumbing, HVAC, fire protection).
Location: Ogden, Utah
Job type: Contract
Salary: $73.33 - 84.46 per hour
Work hours: 8am to 5pm
Education: Bachelors
Responsibilities
Supports Mechanical Engineers in developing engineering design drawings for plumbing, fire protection, diesel, and HVAC systems.
Prepares 2-D CAD intelligent Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) based on sketches and marked‑up prints.
Reviews drawings/documents prepared by others to ensure incorporation of drafting standards, procedures, and national standards.
Identifies and recommends solutions to conflicts in the design and mark‑ups.
Mentors Mechanical designers and drafters by providing on‑the‑job training.
Responsible for data integrity of the component list.
Executes schedule requirements while maintaining high quality in work product.
Skills
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software.
Prior experience with industry‑wide design/drafting tools such as AutoCAD, Bentley MicroStation, PDS2D, PDS3D, and Smartplant P&ID and their component databases.
Experience working in a project team environment to resolve issues and improve processes.
Requires excellent oral and written communication, planning, and organizational skills.
Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME NQA-1 or AS9100D.
Education and Experience Level 1:
Bachelor's degree with 5‑8 years of relevant experience or 9‑12 years of relevant work experience.
Level 2:
Bachelor's degree with 8‑10 years of relevant experience or 12‑14 years of relevant work experience.
