Role Overview General Motors is seeking a Content Designer to join its Operating System (OS) Design team. This role is pivotal in shaping the user experience for future vehicle software, ensuring clarity, usability, and intuitive interaction across automotive interfaces.
Work Arrangement This is a remote position. However, candidates residing within 50 miles of either the Warren GM Global Technical Center or the Sunnyvale Technical Center are expected to work on‑site at least three times per week.
Key Responsibilities
Design clear, intuitive content for vehicle software interfaces
Identify and solve UX problems independently, sharing insights with the team
Collaborate cross‑functionally to develop and uphold content standards
Present work to executive leadership and incorporate feedback effectively
Influence and document evolving content standards across teams
Simplify complex menu structures using strong information architecture skills
Contribute to the evolution of legacy products and non‑traditional interfaces
Required Qualifications
Proven autonomy and initiative in identifying and solving design challenges
Deep understanding of human interface design principles
Experience naming products and features with a clear design perspective
Strong editorial judgment and minimalist writing style
Ability to navigate technical complexity and scale
Skilled in taxonomy and information architecture
Comfortable presenting to senior leadership
Experience mentoring writers and shaping content standards
Proficient in Figma
Collaborative, kind, and team-oriented
Preferred Experience
Prior work on operating systems
Experience with automotive, voice, or wearable interfaces
Background in evolving legacy digital products
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range:
$158,500 – $242,900 (based on location and experience)
Bonus Potential:
Incentive pay based on company and individual performance
