Position Location: Chantilly, VA Position Description We are seeking a Network Engineer responsible for configuration, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of a critical operational network. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience working under the guidance of a senior network engineer. The engineer will provide an engineering resource to support data communications and related applications requirements, as well as provide administrative support of installed systems and networks. Responsibilities include planning and implementing the necessary hardware, software and telecommunications equipment to maintain and/or enhance the organization’s networks, evaluating vendor products and recommending purchases, and implementing network policies and procedures while ensuring adherence to security procedures. Responsibilities Assist in installations, configurations, upgrades, and maintenance of network equipment (switches, firewalls, and load balancers) Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues Document network configurations and diagrams Provide technical support to system operators Assist in implementing STIG compliance Desired Knowledge and Skills TCP/IP Model Routing Switching Multi‑chassis groups – Multi-Link Aggregation Domain or Switch Aggregation Groups Link Aggregation Control Protocol 802.3ad VLANs and VLAN Trunking (802.1q & 802.3ac) Network Time Protocol Troubleshooting Access Control Lists Firewalls Security Zone Security Policies Network Address Translation Load Balancing Virtual Servers Server Pool Health Checks Education and Experience Bachelor’s in computer science or information technology, 10+ years of experience Master’s in computer science or information technology, 5+ years of experience Must currently possess a TS/SCI with CI polygraph Altamira is an Equal Opportunity employer.
