AO is seeking a Senior Job Captain to join our Multifamily/Mixed-Use Design Team. In this role, you will be instrumental in the early phases of architectural design, supporting projects from site planning through entitlements. You'll help transform conceptual ideas into schematic designs with a strong focus on constructability and quality.

As a Senior Job Captain, you will coordinate consultants, manage entitlement submittal sets, and oversee drafting processes. You'll also interact with clients and assist during construction administration with submittal reviews and site meetings. This position offers opportunities to take on responsibilities traditionally handled by a Project Manager, making it ideal for professionals looking to grow their leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Coordination:
    Support project managers and design teams in developing plans, schedules, and budgets. Ensure projects meet timelines and financial goals.
  • Concept Design Development:
    Translate client visions and senior designers' concepts into detailed schematic designs, including site plans, building plans, elevations, and sections for entitlement packages.
  • Zoning & Code Compliance:
    Research zoning and municipal codes; prepare development standard matrices for assigned projects.
  • Team Leadership:
    Mentor junior staff, including interns and Job Captains, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
  • Quality Assurance:
    Review project documents for accuracy and completeness; implement best practices for quality control.
  • Technology Proficiency:
    Utilize AutoCAD, Revit, Photoshop, InDesign, Enscape, D5 Render, and other design/project management tools.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • Architectural licensure preferred or in progress.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Job Captain or similar role.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Photoshop, InDesign, Enscape, D5 Render.
  • Strong knowledge of architectural principles, building codes, and construction methods.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentorship abilities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
