Shopbop is seeking a versatile Hair and Makeup Artist to support our e-commerce photoshoots. The ideal candidate is skilled at enhancing a model’s natural features and hair texture to create clean, modern, and camera‑ready looks that align with the Shopbop aesthetic. This role is best suited for an artist with a strong understanding of beauty and fashion, who is adaptable, collaborative, and passionate about creating imagery that inspires our customers. A positive, solutions‑oriented attitude and willingness to work across both men’s and women’s shoots are essential.

Key job responsibilities

Take direction from Styling Managers through style guides, descriptions, and/or tear sheets to execute looks that align with the Shopbop customer.

Collaborate closely with photographers, stylists, and art directors to deliver high‑quality artistry across a diverse model pool and a range of brand aesthetics.

Maintain an atmosphere of open and positive communication, professionalism, and creativity in the studio.

Act as a mentor to freelance hair and makeup artists to ensure consistent execution and uphold brand standards.

Troubleshoot unexpected hair or makeup challenges on set and provide effective, timely solutions.

Maintain a clean and organized workstation, ensuring all hygiene and safety protocols are followed.

Manage additional business‑related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent

3+ years of professional hair and makeup experience, preferably in a fashion‑related photo or video shoot environment.

Strong experience working with all hair textures and skin tones.

Portfolio demonstrating an ability to translate concepts into cohesive, fashion‑forward looks.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Proven ability to adapt to change and remain positive in a fast‑paced studio setting.

Exceptional work ethic, attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask.

Understanding of how to style for a high‑volume, fashion‑driven environment across a diverse range of models.

Creative mindset and genuine passion for beauty and fashion.

Preferred Qualifications

Cosmetology license.

Knowledge of contemporary and designer brands.

Basic computer skills and ability to learn new applications.
