Essential Duties:
Design user-centered digital experiences that align with business goals
Collaborate with stakeholders to define objectives and user needs
Create UX artifacts such as personas, journey maps, and empathy maps
Support the enterprise design system through component documentation and UI specs
Assist with user research and translate findings into actionable design improvements
Evaluate vendor products for UX quality and alignment with standards
Apply accessibility guidelines (WCAG) to interface and experience design
Work within technical, business, and time constraints to deliver feasible solutions
Stay current with UX best practices and emerging industry trends
Contribute to the growth of the UX program through documentation and collaboration
Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's Degree in any discipline. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis OR related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
Experience: 3 years of experience in Interface design, Information architecture, User mobile design and/or web site design and production (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent).
Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications:
Background in graphic design is a bonus
Competencies:
Experience in Figma application and Adobe Creative Cloud suite applications
Experience with content management systems such as Adobe Experience Manager, Craft, Drupal, Wordpress, etc.
Understanding of design principles, best practices, and UX laws
Ability to prioritize, plan and manage time independently
Experience with collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Monday.com, Sharepoint, etc.
Understanding of WCAG 2.1
Demonstrated understanding of user experience and user interface design
Some experience collaborating with stakeholders, developers, and other designers
Understanding of graphic and visual design principles
Experience in user testing and user research is a bonus
Comfortable working in ambiguity and translating abstract ideas into actionable design
Proactive in shaping design processes and advocating for user-centered solutions
Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence cross-functional decisions
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools
Sitting - prolonged periods of time
Standing - prolonged periods of time
Repetitive Motion - substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
Close Visual Acuity - work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
