Aurora hires talented people with diverse backgrounds who are ready to help build a transportation ecosystem that will make our roads safer, get crucial goods where they need to go, and make mobility more efficient and accessible for all. We’re searching for a 3D Technical Director .

In this role, you will

  • Develop procedural assets for the creation of highly realistic virtual environments.
  • Design and implement world‑building tools to enhance scenario creation workflows.
  • Generate intricate scenarios and simulations to assess the Aurora Driver’s perception system across various sensors, including camera, lidar, and radar, as well as other integral components.

Required Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Houdini and the application of procedural and automated asset creation methodologies.
  • Expertise in Python, VEX, and scripting.
  • Demonstrated experience in defining and implementing scalable workflows and pipelines.
  • Passionate about solving complex and impactful challenges.

Specializations (1 or more)

  • Procedural scene and geometry generation.
  • Modeling of vehicles, sets, or human figures.
  • Procedural surfacing, shading, and texturing techniques.
  • Dynamic simulations such as rigid body, human motion synthesis, fluid or gas dynamics.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Universal Scene Description (USD).

The base salary range for this position is $150,000-$240,000 per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job‑related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
