Job Summary

The University of Utah Marketing & Communications is seeking a full‑time, seasoned videographer/editor to join our video team. You should have high‑production standards and the skill to capture beautiful footage and transform it into well‑crafted edits and final videos. On‑set lighting, sound, and technical camera operation are essential. You must be able to take direction, collaborate, and work hard. Our stories require sometimes odd hours, weekends, and extra effort to produce great work. A drone pilot would be a plus; proficiency in After Effects and motion graphics is also helpful. You must have at least five years of experience, a bachelor’s degree, and a can‑do, get‑along personality. The University of Utah provides an outstanding benefits package, excellent health care, and a good work/life balance. Submit your resume, letter, and links to your video work.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and run video cameras, lighting, and sound equipment on shoots.
  • Edit videos using Adobe Premiere; color grade, use Adobe After Effects, and mix sound.
  • Edit videos in a timely manner, incorporate feedback, and provide updated versions.
  • Handle the University’s film equipment with care and safety.
  • Keep film equipment organized and clean at UMC House.
  • Follow directions from supervisors and director.
  • Work collaboratively with a positive attitude.
  • Be available to work occasionally on weekends, evenings, and travel.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four to six years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of hiring department’s area of specialization to plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes. Master’s degree is preferred.

Preferences

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined. We prefer candidates with at least five years of on‑set filming and editing experience and an upbeat, can‑do attitude.

Additional Information

The University requires a criminal background check and/or drug screen. The University values candidates who work with students and patients from all backgrounds and who are committed to improving access to higher education and quality healthcare for historically underrepresented students and patients.
