Job Summary/Description:

WJHG/WECP Northwest Florida’s leading news stations seek a Broadcast/IT Engineer in Panama City Beach, Florida. This person will be responsible for the day‑to‑day hands‑on maintenance of the technical infrastructure supporting all live, recorded, and post‑production projects. This individual must be hard‑working and self‑motivated with an ability to thrive in high‑stress situations. The candidate must be available to work during breaking news situations, severe weather, new system integrations and updates, and be part of the Engineering Team’s on‑call rotation. At least 2 years of working experience in IT/Broadcast Engineering is required. This position also involves periodically working in Master Control for the station’s 12 channels.

Duties/Responsibilities (example):

  • Troubleshoot and repair PC, networking, studio, and field equipment, and transmitter problems.
  • Manage the maintenance and repair of all company facilities associated with our station, including HVAC, generators, security systems, satellite dishes, electrical, hardware, etc.
  • Work under pressure and handle multiple tasks based on station needs.
  • Communicate promptly and effectively with staff or departments regarding IT needs or technical issues with a positive and professional attitude.
  • Expert understanding of all equipment in studio, production, Master Control, and transmitter sites.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of the station’s vehicle fleet.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with occasional work on ladders and enclosed spaces.
  • Work efficiently with little supervision in a full‑time position.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 2 years’ experience with Windows operating systems, e‑mail systems, FTP servers, and TCP/IP networking.
  • Working knowledge of video/audio systems, news, and television automation equipment.
  • IT certifications are a plus.
  • Monday‑Friday position, but occasional weekend and night shifts may be required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
  • Minimum schedule of 40 hours per week.
