How can you make an impact?
As the Higher Education Director, User Experience, you will play a crucial role in shaping the design and vision of various digital products and services at McGraw Hill.
Your responsibilities will include driving the development of world-class user experiences of educational products and solutions. You will lead a talented team of UX professionals and collaborate closely with technical product management, engineering, and user research teams to understand ongoing work and orchestrate improvements that positively impact all aspects of our customer's holistic educational journey.
You will have a have a thorough understanding of the user-centered design process, a deep understanding of user interface design, and a strong strategic vision. We are looking for a creative, energetic individual with a positive attitude and enthusiasm for pushing the boundaries of technology and design.
This position can work remotely within the United States.
What you will be doing:

Oversee design portfolio roadmap, capacity planning, and resourcing assignments across all agile teams

Provide visionary leadership to the UX team and the organization, setting clear goals and expectations

Collaborate with leadership to align big picture strategic vision into delightful customer experiences with a focus on ease of use and simplicity

Responsible for design consistency across projects by creating and rolling out a design system for repeatable UI components and elements across platforms.

Responsible for alignment to accessible compliancy standards and ensuring that interfaces are intuitive and usable by a diverse user base.

Represents Higher Education UX practice to all business unit stakeholders, vendors, and external partners.

Partner with researchers to conduct user research and oversee iterative designs based on findings.

Accessible design evangelist, embedding established patterns within all designs

Stay updated on evaluating competitor products and industry design asthetic and trends.

Optimize the utilization of UX resources and budgets
-
Attrack, hire, and define growth opportunities and career development ladders for designers under your purview
We're looking for someone with:
-
Degree in Design, HCI, CS, or related field, or equivalent qualification in computer sciences/IT.
-
10+ years of UX design experience, preferably in designing complex solutions for digital environments.

Excellent communication skills and ability to solve customer problems through creative design solutions
-
Seen as a thought leader for UX best practices
-
Self-driven individual with the ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment.

Experience designing across digital applications from web to mobile.
-
Expert in UX design processes, including wireframing, prototyping, and delivering design specifications.

Proven track record of successfully leading UX projects from concept to completion
-
Expert in standard UX software such as Figma, Sketch, and Adobe CC.

Proven familiarity with designing in accordance with accessibility best practices and standards.

A fundamental understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript

Experience in EdTech is a plus.
The pay range for this position is between $140,000-$190,000 annually. However, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. An annual bonus plan may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered.
