Senior Product Designer – Wave Mobile Money
Wave Mobile Money is on a mission to make Africa the first cashless continent.
We provide no‑account, zero‑fee, instantly available financial services that work even where electricity, water or roads are unreliable.
Key Responsibilities
Work closely with product managers, user researchers, engineers, and data analysts from conception to launch of features.
Create high‑quality designs, interactions, and prototypes using Figma to explore and validate ideas.
Craft user research plans and collaborate with product operations analysts to identify problems and validate solutions through user testing.
Contribute to Wave’s design system and component library.
Engage with customers to surface and solve their pain points.
Communicate the reasoning behind product decisions during review sessions.
Prototype visual and UX concepts and iterate rapidly toward the best solution.
Key Details
This is a fully remote role.
Candidates must be based in one of our hiring countries (UK, Spain, Kenya, Ghana, Canada, USA – EST) or one of our operating markets in Africa (Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso) or be willing to relocate there.
Wave covers travel once per year to one of our operating African countries, plus a yearly stipend of $1,200 to meet with coworkers.
Additional travel includes a one‑week immersion and occasional visits with product design leads and PMs, amounting to roughly two trips per year.
The salary is competitive and paid in local currency, with a maximum of $216,900 USD (plus equity) based on location.

Requirements
Fluency in English.
At least 8 years of end‑to‑end design experience, preferably in consumer mobile apps.
Excellent visual and interaction design skills, with an eye for removing friction from flows.
Attention to detail and a high level of visual craft.
Strong illustration and animation skills; experience with After Effects or Lottie files.
Ability to deliver high‑quality designs quickly.
Bias toward action, identifying UX improvements proactively.
Experience with low‑ and high‑fidelity design and prototyping.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to think through complex interaction design and trade‑offs.
Curiosity for understanding and unpacking customer behaviors and needs.
Experience balancing business goals, customer needs, and technical trade‑offs while explaining your point of view.
