Project Graphic Designer (Exhibition Identity & Didactics)

Our Client is a major contemporary art organization seeking an experienced and creative Project Senior Graphic Designer for a contract role. You will be responsible for helping to define the visual identity and educational framework for our upcoming exhibition season. You will support the design, creation, and fabrication of the visual identity for several internationally acclaimed artists' exhibitions. These critical designs are integral to each exhibition, helping to educate the public about the exhibition themes and The Client’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
Identity Development:
Create a distinct and cohesive visual identity for four major exhibitions featuring four internationally acclaimed artists.
Didactic Strategy:
Develop a dynamic display and didactic strategy for exterior public art projects, ensuring accessibility and engagement.
Deliverables Management:
Execute a comprehensive set of design deliverables for
each
of the four exhibitions (see Deliverables below).
Required Deliverables (Per Exhibition) The successful candidate will be responsible for creating the following print and production-ready assets for each of the four exhibitions:
Typeface Identity:
Selection and application of a core typeface identity.
Body Type Treatment:
Establishing clear and readable body type treatment for all educational materials.
Image Treatment:
Defining a consistent visual strategy for image presentation across all materials.
Artwork Section Texts:
Design layout for major exhibition section texts.
Artwork Labels:
Production of clear and informative artwork labels.
Brochures:
Design and production of a bi-fold or tri-fold brochure.
Artist Takeaway:
Design of an artist-focused takeaway material.
Qualifications and Experience
Proven experience as a Senior graphic designer, preferably in an arts, cultural, or museum environment.
A strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality work in identity development/brand identity, advanced typography, and exhibition graphics.
Expert proficiency in industry-standard design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
A keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple complex, simultaneous projects under deadlines.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders (artists, curators, fabricators).
Understanding of design principles for both print production and large-scale digital/environmental applications.
This is a
project-based contract role . Details regarding compensation and contract duration will be discussed during the interview process.
