Designer – Fire Protection Division
Monona Plumbing & Fire Protection is looking for a Designer for our Fire Protection Division.
Job Summary The Fire Protection Designer is responsible for the complete design and management of fire protection projects, including design, submittal, survey, and fabrication. Designs include, but are not limited to, wet and dry sprinkler systems, standpipe systems, and fire pump room layouts.
Responsibilities
Review project specifications and create sprinkler system layouts
Perform hydraulic calculations to ensure the system meets design requirements
Create material submittal packets and organize submittals for state and municipal agencies
Conduct surveys to minimize field conflicts
Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other trades
Conduct BIM coordination using Navisworks software
Create shop drawings and stocklists for purchasing and fabrication
Complete As‑Built drawings for finished installations
Provide technical assistance to customers and field personnel
Qualifications
2+ years of sprinkler system design experience, including a variety of different systems, sizes, and project types
Proficient in AutoCAD and HydraCAD
NICET level 2 for water‑based systems layout
Experience with Revit preferred
Knowledge of various sprinkler systems
Understand and can apply NFPA regulations
Ability to perform all aspects of a complete design within budgeted design hours
Apply judgment and make decisions independently
Effectively manage projects
Workplace Type Onsite 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
Pay Range $70,000 – $100,000, dependent on experience
