Base pay range $18.10/hr - $21.63/hr
The Authorization and Referral Specialist is responsible for the timely processing, submitting, scheduling and follow‑up of referrals and request for treatment authorizations as required by payer. The Authorization and Referral Specialist tracks existing referrals by program and payer. The Authorization and Referral Specialist position requires excellent customer service skills with patients, employees, and the public. Individuals must also be flexible, organized, and able to manage a demanding workload with accuracy.

Educational Requirements High School Diploma or equivalency
Qualifications
Two years in the medical field to include front office, appointment scheduling and referral authorization
Must be Bilingual English/Spanish
Knowledge of health plans, eligibility and guidelines
Demonstrated ability to read, write and speak English
Demonstrated ability to use a computer
Minimum typing speed of 35 wpm
Experience with the Seriously Mentally Ill population preferred
Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT billing codes a plus
Physical Requirements
May include standing, sitting, and/or walking for extended periods
May include performing repetitive tasks
May include lifting up to 25 pounds
