Responsibilities
Write packages, voice‑overs, and live shots for air and digital platforms.
General assignment reporting.
Set up stories and keep in close communication with producers and the assignment editor.
Generate new ideas for the assignment editor.
Follow up on previously reported stories for new developments.
Read local newspapers and publications and stay aware of local, national, and international events.
Attend all editorial meetings during your shift and arrive with story ideas.
Continuously work on all on‑air skills, including live, voice, and communication.
Work with and give guidance to photographers.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism (preferred).
High school degree or equivalent (required).
One year of professional reporting with live reporting experience (preferred).
Develop and maintain contacts in the community.
Ability to research, write, and report news stories for television.
Typing and writing skills.
Comfortable with non‑linear editors.
Understanding of ENG equipment.
Good interviewing skills, broadcast voice, and professional on‑air presentation.
Proficient at writing to video.
Ability to work under deadline pressure daily.
Ability to accept and implement constructive criticism.
Work Schedule The News Department functions 24/7, so the position may require long hours, unplanned interruptions at odd hours, and occasional weekend or holiday work.
