The Fund for Public Health in New York City (FPHNYC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to the advancement of the health and well-being of all New Yorkers. To this end, in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), FPHNYC incubates innovative public health initiatives implemented by DOHMH to advance community health throughout the city. It facilitates partnerships, often new and unconventional, between government and the private sector to develop, test, and launch new initiatives. These collaborations speed the execution of demonstration projects, effect expansion of successful pilot programs, and support rapid implementation to meet the public health needs of individuals, families, and communities across New York City.

About the Program:
WorkWell NYC (WWNYC) is an innovative workplace wellness team servicing over 350,000 City of New York employees. WorkWell NYC supports agencies to develop workplace-based programming and innovative, sustainable workplace wellness infrastructure. WorkWell NYC offers Citywide programming in person and digitally - live and on-demand - in five areas: prevention and chronic conditions, physical fitness, mental well-being, nutrition, and health equity
About The Role:
WorkWell NYC is seeking a Communications Specialist to help manage Citywide outreach efforts for over 350,000 NYC employees. The primary focus of this position is to increase WorkWell NYC's brand recognition and engagement by developing and implementing print and digital content that reflects programmatic initiatives.
Responsibilities:
The Communications Specialist will support WorkWell NYC's programs with communications and other support that could include but is not limited to: • Create graphics and collateral to promote WWNYC events and health and wellness resources for City employees • Manage and create social media content including postings, web content, and other digital technologies as they emerge • Guide branding and marketing to increase employee participation in WWNYC's health promotion initiatives, including web-based content and print materials • Develop innovative strategies to increase program visibility across City agencies • Manage graphic design, photography, and marketing vendors, including on-time delivery of materials and inclusive content reflecting the City's diverse workforce • Maintain knowledge of both communications and public health trends, innovations, and technology • Research innovative and effective workplace wellness programming in relevant topic areas • Provide staff development for other WWNYC staff and stakeholders (e.g. Ambassadors) to enhance their communications knowledge to develop and promote content for their unique audiences • Advise and inform WWNYC's overall communication strategy • Manage WWNYC mailing list and develop communications collateral for regular distribution • Gather and use data to inform communication strategies • Assist with program event planning, coordination, and outreach • Support wellness programming, including development and execution of program events and activities, engagement strategies and other projects
Requirements:
The Communications Specialist will: • Possess exemplary writing, editing, and verbal communication skills • Demonstrate skills and knowledge in graphic design • Display a capacity for critical, independent, and creative thinking • Possess strong project management, time management, and organizational skills • Communications experience • The ability to work with urgent deadlines and high-priority tasks • Proven track record as a self-starter • Advanced computer and design skills, including Microsoft Office suite and other layout and design software systems (i.e., Adobe In-design, Canva, etc.) • Familiarity with behavior economics approach to communications • Interest in health and wellness
