The Office of the District Attorney, Bronx County ("BXDA") is charged with the twin goals of ensuring public safety and striving for equal justice for the over 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community. By "Pursuing Justice with Integrity," the BXDA places a focus on assistance for crime victims while simultaneously ensuring fairness to defendants. Moreover, the BXDA aims to balance the need to seek appropriate punishment for certain crimes while recognizing when punitive measures do not adequately advance justice. In furtherance of this mission, the BXDA seeks experienced and enthusiastic Expeditor. Job Responsibilities: Specific duties include but are not limited to the following: Enter case information for all new arrests into the ECAB tracker Monitor the "arrest to complaint received" time frame in order to ensure that cases are not lingering unnecessarily. Obtain criminal history (RAP sheet) of all arrested individuals. Constant communication with Legal Supervisors, NYPD, and Court Personnel. Handle incoming phone calls, determine nature of call and caller's identity before transferring or taking a message. Submit all completed cases to e-arraignments expeditiously and prepare for arraignment part. Select appropriate case submission status in the ECAB tracker depending on the type of document being submitted. Assist legal staff with trouble shooting issues with case processing. Integrated with DA's office legal staff. All other duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications: An associate degree is preferred, or a High School diploma/GED and two (2) years working experience in a law firm, government agency, or other professional environments. Minimum Qualifications: High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above. Preferred Skills: Familiarity with general court services and functions. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat. Ability to work independently and effectively under deadlines. Dependable team player who works collaboratively and cooperatively in a team-oriented environment. Utilize excellent customer service skills to effectively communicate with all levels of the agency. Exceptional organization, time management, and multitasking abilities. Excellent computer (i.e. Microsoft Word and Excel) skills and strong data entry skills.
