Overview
The VISTA will help Backroads by developing relationships with Berea College to expand the method for measuring the economic impact of the Backroads programs and by coordinating “Appalachian Table Tales,” a new program that helps communities promote their local stories to increase tourism. Communities participating in Table Tales receive help in organizing events to capture local history and training on how to digitally share their stories, which helps attract tourists nationwide and boosts local businesses.
Responsibilities
- Develop relationships with Berea College professors and students to expand the method for measuring the economic impact of the Backroads programs.
- Coordinate the “Appalachian Table Tales” program: organize events, capture local history and train communities on digital storytelling (e.g., through the Backroads phone app).
