Multiskilled Journalist – WBIR‑TV Knoxville, NBC TEGNA Affiliate, a part of TEGNA Inc. (NYSE: TGNA)

We are seeking an experienced multi‑skilled journalist to maintain our tradition of superior reporting and newsgathering. Your work will be shared across all platforms with outstanding photography and unforgettable editing, blending traditional TV news with multi‑platform journalism.
Current driver’s license and ability to operate a news gathering vehicle to and from various locations are required.
Responsibilities
- Perform authoritative, compelling live shots in developing story or breaking news situations.
- Develop story ideas.
- Mine the community to find sources who will keep you informed about events and ideas in their areas of expertise.
- Identify, write and produce stories within a specific framework.
- Research for facts and credibility.
- Maintain and develop sources to elevate our reporting.
- Shoot, write, produce and edit on‑air and online content within deadlines.
- Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (viewer pictures, webcam interviews) to enhance stories.
- Use social media and digital tools to research, discover and distribute content.
- Attend editorial meetings and offer story ideas daily.
- Write in an exciting, captivating and authentic manner.
Requirements
- 1–3 years reporting experience preferred.
- Solid news judgment, strong communication skills, creativity, and ethical decision‑making skills.
- Strong writing, production, and teaser writing abilities.
- Experience with ENPS, EDIUS and Axis graphics preferred.
- Organized and able to work under constant deadlines.
- Ability to calmly handle live breaking news situations and changing events.
- Proven social and digital content creation ability.
- Knowledge of Knoxville a plus.
