Graham Media Group in Market #15 Orlando, Florida, is looking for an Executive Reporter!

The position is at WKMG News 6 in Orlando.

Position Overview

Our Executive Reporter must be a competitive coach‑mentor and problem‑solver, helping reporters obtain information, ask compelling questions, and pivot when the day doesn’t go as planned. You must also be a skilled visual storyteller who understands which story techniques work on which platforms and can mentor and motivate others to level up their skills, ensuring ongoing accountability. You relish scooping the competition and can help your reporter team do it regularly with quality. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with Managers of Content and Coverage to guide reporter growth and day‑to‑day news gathering, and work with Multi‑Platform Executive Producers and the Content Center team to facilitate the strongest, most impactful daily coverage on multiple platforms.

What You Can Expect

  • Lead, develop, and enhance the storytelling and news‑gathering skills of the station’s reporters.
  • Collaborate with other newsroom leaders to consistently execute the content strategy through authentic, meaningful storytelling.
  • Oversee the writing of stories for all platforms; provide timely feedback to foster continuous improvement.
  • Develop and supervise effective workflow strategies and procedures for the reporting team.
  • Ensure that all content adheres to journalistic standards and ethical guidelines.
  • Deliver a vision and create trust among reporters, photographers, and newsroom staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Bring

  • A college degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
  • Experience in various reporting formats, including experimental video strategies and non‑traditional storytelling techniques.
  • Experience in original enterprise reporting that leads newscasts and demonstrates an impact on the community.
  • Multiple skills beyond the traditional role of “reporter” (shooting, editing, planning, etc.).
  • Familiarity with multimedia storytelling, including using graphics and data to enhance stories.
  • A sharp, conversational writing style and an ability to leverage process language that showcases journalists at work and the value they bring to viewers.
  • Able to work in a high‑pressure, fast‑paced environment, managing deadline pressures and frequent changes.
  • Fast learning curve when it comes to new technology.
  • Strong communicator and self‑starter who puts the team first and works hard to ensure the product is high‑quality.
  • Willingness to work outside of scheduled hours as breaking news or station efforts require.

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Experience reporting in a high‑volume, top‑25 market or Florida market.
  • Knowledge of Florida Sunshine Laws and open‑record practices.
  • Proficiency in multiple newsroom and digital content management systems.
  • Editing experience on Adobe Premiere.
