The New York Post is looking for a Florida Reporter to help expand our digital coverage nationwide. The right candidate is an enterprising reporter who can dig up and break eye‑popping original stories in the Sunshine State — and deliver them as authoritative reports in The Post’s signature tabloid voice. The ideal candidate must be self‑sufficient, fast, full of ideas — and the kind of person who’s willing to knock on doors, work the phones, ask tough questions and do whatever else it takes to find and nail the story. Responsibilities Report and write major national news and enterprise stories with speed and accuracy. Cover major developments across Florida — including crime, politics, immigration, and cultural trends. Pitch and develop scoops and enterprise stories that drive the news cycle and attract attention. Dig into public records and court documents, track down sources, and pursue stories aggressively. Travel as needed to cover breaking news, investigations, and long‑form enterprise pieces. Work closely with editors and colleagues to brainstorm, develop, and package stories for maximum digital impact. Deliver clean, authoritative copy on deadline while maintaining the Post’s fast‑paced, tabloid style. Identify viral and nationally relevant angles in local stories. Requirements Minimum seven years of experience in a major breaking news operation. Strong writer with proven ability to deliver compelling, clean copy under pressure. Demonstrated success in breaking news and developing enterprise reporting. Skilled at cultivating sources and navigating court records and complex issues. Comfortable working in a digital‑first environment with a keen eye for viral potential. Bilingual English‑Spanish strongly preferred. Valid US driving license strongly preferred. Experience reporting in the Caribbean and Central and South America also strongly preferred. Willingness to travel nationally and internationally as stories demand.
