Job Title

Conservative Writer/Influencer/Podcast Intern

Reports To

Core Content Team Lead and the Managing Editor

Job Description

Do you think you might want to become a conservative writer, blogger, podcaster, on‑air talent, or influencer? If yes, you’ve come to the right place. The role focuses on writing political content for ONC, including high‑quality OpEds and Policy Proposals for ONC’s website, and may involve podcasts, social media postings, events, and other assignments as needed. We value initiative and encourage proposing your own story ideas and projects.

Interns are expected to attend weekly all‑hands meetings each Monday at 6:30 p.m. EST and Core Content Department meetings every Friday at the same time. The intern must commit to at least the end of the Fall semester (December 8th, 2025) when the contract ends.

Responsibilities

  • Create consistent content for the website with a team of core content writers.
  • Ensure ONC’s commitment to nonpartisanship, ideological diversity, and civil debate is reflected in all published work.
  • Participate in civil dialogue with conservative, progressive, and moderate writers focused on our eight policy areas: Governance, Economics, Infrastructure, Healthcare, Foreign Policy and Defense, Justice and Public Safety, Social Issues, and Science, Environment and Technology.
  • Participate in podcasts, events, and other tasks as needed.
  • Maintain high levels of communication and collaboration in a remote environment via Zoom and Slack.

Requirements

  • Working toward a degree in Political Science, Journalism, English or Literature, Public Policy, Media Studies, International Relations, or a related field.
  • Exceptional writing skills in English.
  • Good verbal communication/speaking skills are a plus.
  • Responsive, consistent, and effective communicator, even during conflict.
  • Experience in policy research, political commentary, or a related domain preferred.
  • Enthusiasm for ONC’s mission and values, including a willingness to participate in polite debate with diverse perspectives.
  • Ability to work remotely and on your own schedule to meet deadlines.
  • Google Workspace experience preferred.
  • Attendance at mandatory weekly meetings is required.
  • Must be authorized to intern in the United States.
  • Submit a writing sample of 2–3 paragraphs on a political topic as part of your cover letter.
