Ellaway Blues Consulting is supporting a major capital project and is seeking an experienced Technical Writer with a strong civil engineering background to support documentation across large-scale construction and infrastructure works.

This role is ideal for a detail-driven professional who understands how capital projects operate and can translate complex engineering and construction information into clear, structured, and compliant documentation.

The Role

You will work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to produce, review, and maintain critical technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring consistency, clarity, and alignment with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage technical documentation for capital construction projects
  • Translate civil engineering designs, specifications, and reports into structured written content
  • Support documentation for project execution, construction methodologies, procedures, and standards
  • Maintain document control processes, version tracking, and audit-ready records
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure technical accuracy and compliance
  • Prepare manuals, work instructions, reports, and project deliverables
Requirements
  • Background in Civil Engineering or Construction-related discipline
  • Proven experience supporting large capital projects or major infrastructure works
  • Strong technical writing experience within engineering or construction environments
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, project schedules, and technical data
  • Experience working alongside EPC teams, contractors, or owner’s project teams
  • Excellent written communication and document structuring skills
Nice to Have
  • Experience with construction documentation systems or document control platforms
  • Familiarity with project execution plans, QA/QC documentation, and compliance standards
  • Experience on industrial, energy, or infrastructure projects
