Job Summary

TOSA (Teacher on Special Assignment) Grades 6-8 Literacy and Writing Coach for the 2025-26 school year PCN - # 250020. DEFINITION: Under the direction of the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, the Literacy and Writing Coach (TOSA) conducts on-going training with model lessons, coaching, and follow-up support using an identified model of instruction. Develops lessons and works with teacher cadres to provide a system of collaboration and instructional support. Works with teachers to analyze student learning outcomes and develop next steps for instruction. Assists teachers in engaging all students in learning and in checking for student mastery. Provides training institutes during non-teaching times such as summer, spring break, winter break, after school hours, and during the school day on identified strategies, skills, and instructional models.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct ongoing training with model lessons, coaching, and follow-up support using identified instruction models.
  • Develop lessons and collaborate with teacher cadres to provide a system of collaboration and instructional support.
  • Work with teachers to analyze student learning outcomes and develop next steps for instruction.
  • Assist teachers in engaging all students, checking for student mastery.
  • Provide training sessions during non-teaching times such as summer, spring break, winter break, after school hours, and during the school day on identified strategies, skills, and instructional models.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Valid California Multiple Subject Credential with English Language Learner authorization.
  • Experience in literacy and writing instruction for middle school grades.
  • Strong coaching and collaborative skills.
  • Commitment to inclusion, equity, and culturally responsive instruction.
