Our client, a leading manufacturer of office furniture in North America, is seeking a CAD Designer to join their Engineering Team.
The CAD Designer will be an integral part of product development-from creating complex 3D models and technical drawings to supporting engineering changes and collaborative design reviews. The CAD Designer will be an integral part of product development-from creating complex 3D models and technical drawings to supporting engineering changes and collaborative design reviews. Here's what you will do:
- Create robust, parametric 3D models to support new product development initiatives
- Build structured CAD assemblies based on engineering bills of materials (BOMs)
- Develop accurate 2D part and assembly drawings aligned with drafting standards
- Revise and maintain existing CAD files to support engineering changes
- Conduct internal audits of 2D drawings for compliance and accuracy
- Actively participate in internal and external design reviews
- Track and report hours worked; manage individual task load effectively
- Proactively flag potential project delays and collaborate on solutions
- Facilitate CAD data sharing with suppliers and customers for reviews and quoting
- Provide CAD-related support across departments as needed
- Domestic travel may be required (up to 10%)
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or certificate from a recognized CAD technician/technologist or engineering program
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on CAD design experience, preferably in furniture or mechanical products
- Proficient in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks strongly preferred)
- Experience creating detailed part/assembly drawings and understanding of FEA fundamentals
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacture principles
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational habits
