Interior Designer (In-Person, New York City)
At Havenly, we believe in making space for better living. Founded in 2014 and headquartered in New York City, we collaborate with clients across the country to design spaces they love coming home to. We are now building a bench of Interior Designers in the New York City area to provide modern, custom, in‑person design services. This is a freelance position for designers who are headquartered locally and wish to grow their businesses.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with residential New York City‑area clients through virtual and in‑home meetings to understand their design preferences, needs, and budget.
Lead the design process with clients, including development of a mood board, design concept, floor plan, and 3D rendering.
Source furniture and décor on Havenly’s platform, offering clients a seamless checkout experience across our vendor partners.
Grow deep client relationships to drive repeat and referral business.
Qualifications
Degree in Interior Design from an accredited program or university (preferred).
3+ years of experience as an interior designer working with private clients in person and/or virtually.
Professional presence and confident, clear communication style.
Tech‑savvy: comfortable using online technologies for concept boards, 3D renderings, floorplans, presentations, and communications; quick to learn new tools.
Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop or Canva, including image layering and background removal.
High passion, drive, and knowledge to deliver outstanding creative results.
Small‑business mindset: ability to advance projects and convert designs into sales.
Strong product knowledge across vendors, categories, and price points to source the best match for clients.
Reliable transportation to client meetings, a computer with video‑conferencing capabilities, and a current Photoshop license or Canva account.
Additional Details
Freelance contract role for designers headquartered in the New York City area.
Computer must run macOS Big Sur or recent Windows version (10/11) to access the Havenly platform.
Compensation includes a combination of pay per project, commission, and bonus.
Applicants must be authorized to work full‑time in the United States.
