WUSA9 TV in Washington, D.C. is looking for a freelance news producer to join our team. We want a curious, creative, and ambitious producer who can bring energy and urgency to our newscasts, helping inform and impact audiences in one of the nation’s top markets.

Responsibilities

Build, stack, and produce dynamic newscasts with clear vision and attention to detail.

Write crisp, conversational copy under tight deadlines.

Use creative production techniques—including graphics, editing, and innovative media—to elevate stories.

Collaborate closely with anchors, reporters, photojournalists, editors, and production staff.

Make editorial calls, especially in breaking news situations.

Ensure the newscast aligns with newsroom goals and connects with our audience across all platforms.

Requirements

BA/BS in journalism, communications, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

At least 3 years’ experience producing or line producing live newscasts.

Strong editorial judgment and breaking news experience.

Excellent writing skills with an ability to produce clean, concise, and accurate scripts.

Knowledge of ENPS and Edius preferred.

Ability to thrive under deadline pressure and adapt to fast‑changing situations.

Strong social media awareness and ability to integrate digital content into broadcasts.

Must be available to work flexible shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

On‑site in Washington, D.C.

Pay Range $32 - $39 USD
