We provide essential civil engineering design, specialized inspection services, and comprehensive construction support to public and private sector clients throughout Northeast Florida. We are seeking a dynamic, results-oriented executive to support our strategic growth and further expand our market presence.
Position Summary The Director of Business Development and Marketing is a senior-level role responsible for developing and executing a cohesive strategy to grow the firm's revenue, expand its client base, and enhance its brand visibility. This leader will identify and secure new business opportunities across our core services (civil engineering, inspections, and construction support) in the Jacksonville metropolitan area and surrounding regions. A proven track record in the A/E/C (Architecture/Engineering/Construction) industry, particularly within the Florida market, is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and manage a strategic business development plan to achieve ambitious revenue goals in the civil engineering, inspections, and construction support sectors.
Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities with public agencies (e.g., FDOT, local municipalities, JEA), private developers, contractors, and institutional clients.
Cultivate and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key clients, partners, industry stakeholders, and decision-makers in the Jacksonville market.
Lead the entire project pursuit lifecycle, from initial client contact and needs assessment to proposal submission and final presentation.
Develop and manage the firm’s overall marketing and communication strategy to strengthen brand awareness and differentiate our services.
Oversee the development of high-quality, persuasive, and compliant proposals, Statements of Qualifications (SOQs), and presentations in response to RFQs/RFPs.
Manage the creation of marketing collateral, including brochures, case studies, website content, and social media presence.
Represent the firm at key industry events, conferences, and networking functions in the local and regional A/E/C community.
Conduct market research to monitor industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging client needs to inform strategy.
Collaborate closely with Senior Management, Professional Engineers, Project Managers, and Technical Leads to align business development efforts with operational capacity and technical expertise.
Lead and mentor a marketing team, fostering a collaborative, results-driven culture.
Maintain and leverage the company's CRM system (Customer Relationship Management) to track leads, measure performance, and forecast sales.
Provide regular reports on business development activities, pipeline status, and revenue projections to the executive leadership team.
Qualifications Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. An MBA or Master's degree is a plus.
Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in business development, sales, and marketing within the civil engineering, inspection (CEI), or construction industry.
Proven, successful experience securing contracts and building relationships with major Florida public sector clients, including FDOT and large municipalities/county governments (e.g., City of Jacksonville, JAXPORT, JEA).
Deep understanding of the A/E/C public procurement process in Florida, including the Consultants’ Competitive Negotiation Act (CCNA) and various federal procurement requirements.
Extensive, existing network of contacts and proven relationships with relevant public and private clients in the Northeast Florida/Jacksonville market.
Skills & Attributes
Exceptional strategic thinking with the ability to translate market opportunities into actionable growth plans.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and compelling proposal writing.
Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build consensus at all organizational levels.
High degree of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
Demonstrated ability to manage the preparation of complex, high-stakes Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) and competitive proposals that meet strict government formatting and compliance requirements.
Existing relationships with key personnel and decision-makers within FDOT Districts 2 and 5, as well as relevant federal agencies (e.g., US Army Corps of Engineers, NAVFAC) is highly preferred.
This position is based in the company’s office in Jacksonville, Florida.
Requires local and regional travel to client meetings, site visits, and industry events.
