Creative Packaging Senior Art Director

The Creative Packaging Sr. Art Director will support the Creative Packaging Dept. in
Primary Responsibilities:
• PACKAGING & LOGO CREATION FOR OWNED DIVISIONAL BRANDS & PARTNERSHIPS - ASSIGNED BRANDS: Directs and designs creation of and brand standards for private brand launches/re-launches and packaging collateral for all assigned category divisions and partnerships - including Logos, Colors, Photography, - within Product Development Calendar timing and within Brand costing parameters. Directs and develops ideas into innovative, cost effective packaging to improve sales and consumer perceptions of the Company/brand. Creates and directs all assigned category project overviews and mockups for presentations.
• PACKAGING PHOTOGRAPHY FOR ASSIGNED OWNED & PARTNERSHIP BRANDS: Develops and executes photographic strategy to establish brand and creative standards for photographers/studios and develop shoot schedule. Directs post-production digital processing for color corrections, retouching and proofing final press ready digital files.
• GLOBAL PHOTOGRAPHY PROCESS DEVELOPMENT: Works with Director to evaluate Global Photography Studios, run pilot tests, and look for efficient methods to execute product photography closer to manuafacturing regions.
• CUSTOMER FOCUSED PACKAGING SOLUTIONS: Works within brand book guidelines to do competitive shopping and inspirational research needed before creating logos and packaging designs.
• CREATES ALL JCPENNEY OWNED ASSIGNED CATEGORY BRAND STANDARDS: Create brand standards for each assigned category brand which includes the brand's colors, fonts look and identity by highlighting some of the brand's unique packaging.
• REVIEWS and checks all assigned category artwork to ensure brand standards and program continuity for creative template, imagery, messaging and company policy prior to submitting to senior management for approval.
• EVALUATES all assigned category packaging samples by working with Sourcing to ensure accuracy of all color and art before going to production.
• RESPONSIBLE FOR TRAINING OF ART DIRECTORS Trains, directs and mentors all assigned category Art Directors. Works with them daily to create a learning path and learning opportunities to build packaging development process knowledge.
Key Partnerships:
Internal Teams - Creative Manager / Creative Packaging Director
• MAINTAINS WORKING RELATIONSHIPS with internal Packaging on brand direction, deadlines, costing and dielines. Will also work with other JCPenney teams on project presentations, art buying, retouching and production teams when needed to complete projects.
External - Product Development / Design / Marketing

• College Degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, or equivalent work experience

• 8+ Years Experience in Packaging/Design Layout using Creative Suites - Illustrator and Photoshop and workflow management software
• Proven technical/management skills creating, directing and training creative services associates
• Able to work in a hybrid environment
