KGO - Morning News Anchor Job ID 10133704 Location San Francisco, California, United States Business ABC Owned TV Stations Date posted Oct. 10, 2025 Job Summary: KGO-TV/ABC7 News, the ABC owned station covering the San Francisco Bay Area seeks a full-time, experienced anchor for our weekday morning newscasts, covering three hours on linear and streaming newscasts. We are looking for a personable and versatile communicator with exceptional anchoring, reporting, and writing skills for all ABC7 News platforms. The ideal candidate has a passion for news, excels at breaking news coverage on the desk and in the field. We want a self-starter and team player who can collaborate effectively with a wide range of personnel to create compelling content on all platforms. Candidates must be active users of social media for news gathering and have a demonstrated ability to move the audience between linear and digital platforms. Applicants are expected to turn visually creative, memorable stories when given the opportunity to report in the field or on long-form projects. A successful candidate will have a proven track record of developing great contacts and sources and telling impactful stories. Please send examples of stories you entered as a reporter and show us how you use social media to find, research, break and promote your stories. This person must be organized and work well under pressure and constant deadlines. We want someone who brings a positive attitude every day, is receptive to feedback, and wants to be a newsroom leader. You will be expected to represent KGO-TV at community events, promotional events and speaking engagements. This position is covered under SAG-AFTRA – KGO-TV Newspersons Agreement. Responsibilities Anchor newscasts on linear TV and streaming platform Write original copy and copy edit scripts Report on local stories Social media content creation Basic Qualifications 5+ years of experience in a top 50 market Must have excellent writing skills, possess solid news judgment and ethical decision-making skills. Able to shoot video and edit stories for linear and digital. Proficient in operating handheld prosumer/consumer cameras and non-linear editing for linear and digital. Superior on-camera presentation Required Education Bachelor’s degree Preferred Qualifications Bilingual is beneficial Knowledge of the San Francisco Bay Area The hiring range for this SAG-AFTRA role in San Francisco, CA is $90,948 to $210,000 per year. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. The role also has potential for additional compensation for overtime and early morning/overnight shifts. Select benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package, such as medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
