Assistant Professor of Film and/or Television Production
Join the Department of Cinema and Television Arts at California State University, Northridge as a tenure‑track Assistant Professor in Film and/or Television Production.
Position Overview
The department seeks a faculty member to teach film and/or television‑related courses and bring professional experience in directing, producing, or other creative aspects of film and television production. The successful candidate will participate in office hours, faculty meetings, student advisement, and service to the department, college, and university.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in film and/or television production.
- Provide weekly office hours and advise students.
- Participate in faculty meetings, assessment of student learning, and departmental service.
- Teach on weekdays, evenings, weekends, and/or online as required.
- Engage in teaching, scholarship, and service in an inclusive environment to achieve equitable academic outcomes.
- Serve as a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and comply with CSU Executive Order 1083.
Required Qualifications
- Terminal degree (e.g., M.F.A.) in film and/or television production from an accredited institution.
- College or university‑level teaching experience in single or multi‑camera production, taught in person.
- Professional industry experience in film or television production.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience or potential to create an inclusive, student‑centered learning environment for a diverse student body.
- Evidence of effective teaching experience at the college or university level in single/multi‑camera film or television production.
- Professional experience in directing and/or producing.
- Professional experience in single/multi‑camera production.
- Membership in one or more professional guilds such as DGA, WGA, ACE, ASC, MPSE, MPEG, CAS, or PGA (desired).
