Overview

Our client, a long‑established company specializing in the import, manufacturing, and distribution of Japanese food, beverages, restaurant equipment, and supplies, is seeking a Bilingual Media Communications & Promotion Specialist to join their Marketing & Communications team in El Monte, California.

In this full‑time, on‑site role, you will support the company’s marketing, PR, and community engagement initiatives by developing bilingual (EN↔JP) content, managing promotional campaigns, coordinating public relations activities, and assisting with cultural and community‑focused events.

The ideal candidate is creative, detail‑oriented, and fluent in both English and Japanese, with strong communication skills and a passion for Japanese food culture.

Must‑Have Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in communications, public relations, or content creation
  • Full English proficiency and business‑advanced Japanese proficiency (bilingual)
  • Strong writing, editing, and translation skills in both languages
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and scheduling tools
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively
  • Must pass Sake Adviser and Shochu Adviser certification courses within one year of employment
  • Preferred:
  • Knowledge of Japanese food and beverage culture
  • Experience using CMS tools (WordPress, Google Sites)
  • Understanding of editorial calendars and brand communication strategies
  • Basic design experience with Canva or similar tools

Responsibilities

Media Communications & Content Development

  • Create, edit, and translate (EN↔JP) content for websites, newsletters, social media, flyers, catalogs, and various marketing materials
  • Ensure consistent brand voice and messaging across all communication channels
  • Manage social media and website content calendars and updates (Instagram, Facebook, etc.)
  • Draft press releases, announcements, and promotional communications
  • Maintain and track media, vendor, and community contact lists

Promotional Campaigns & Coordination

  • Collaborate with design and PR teams to develop integrated marketing campaigns and visual assets (flyers, web banners, editorials)
  • Coordinate promotional activities including press conferences, anniversary events, and educational programs
  • Work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure message consistency and timely execution
  • Support product catalog maintenance and new product highlight materials

Community Relations & Event Planning

  • Assist in organizing community and cultural events such as nonprofit collaborations, food festivals, and sponsorship activities
  • Represent the company at internal/external events, including occasional after‑hours events
  • Support inter‑branch communication and community‑related PR initiatives

Location & Compensation

Employment Type: Full-time

Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Salary: Around $68,000 – $77,000 annually (based on experience and qualifications)
