Job Summary / Description:
Dakota News Now is looking for a dynamic, energetic producer with a strong news sense to create daily newscasts. The ideal candidate is a leader capable of steering the creative vision for a solid newscast while maintaining ethical journalism standards. Duties / Responsibilities:
Work with news directors and the assignment desk to plan, staff, and determine daily newscasts. Demonstrate excellent news judgment and uphold journalism ethics. Apply strong writing, storytelling, and reporting skills. Create a newscast rundown, write stories, build graphics, and coordinate with control room and field crews. Show proficiency in social media and online news production. Maintain strong organizational and time‑management skills. Work primarily Monday‑Friday, but be willing to work longer hours and alternative days as needed. Qualifications / Requirements:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in journalism or a related field. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in on‑air television news producing (training available for the right candidate). Basic experience with newsroom computer systems (ENPS) preferred. Understanding of AP Style for digital platforms and broadcast writing for television. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Professional representation of the station in the community, newsroom, and on social media. Desire to win, reflect on work, and apply feedback.
