New Futures, New Hampshire’s leading health policy and advocacy organization, is seeking an innovative and detail‑oriented Communications Coordinator to support the NH Medicaid Matters coalition’s external messaging, marketing and public relations work. New Futures is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that works to solve problems through policy change. NH Medicaid Matters is a coalition of 80+ organizations advocating to protect New Hampshire’s Medicaid programs, which provide health insurance coverage to hundreds of thousands of Granite Staters. The Communications Coordinator will work with New Futures’ Communications, Policy, and Community Engagement staff, as well as NH Medicaid Matters stakeholders, to execute a comprehensive communications strategy to support the coalition’s legislative and advocacy efforts. This is a part‑time, grant‑funded exempt position based in Concord, NH, with hybrid work options.
The individual in this position must be collaborative, well‑organized, and have exceptional, demonstrated written and digital production skills. The Communications Coordinator will help to develop and distribute print and electronic communications, including but not limited to fact sheets, graphic one‑pages, emails, social media, videos, and website updates for NH Medicaid Matters. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of public health policies and New Hampshire’s political dynamics. The Communications Coordinator will report to the Communications Director and will work collaboratively with New Futures staff, NH Medicaid Matters stakeholders, partner organizations, and others.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
In collaboration with New Futures’ Communications Director and policy staff, and NH Medicaid Matters stakeholders, develop and implement comprehensive communications strategies to inform key audiences about Medicaid policy changes and state readiness efforts;
Develop content for both print and web communications, including the NH Medicaid Matters coalition website, social media, video content, and editorial pieces, with heavy emphasis on graphic design;
Prepare statements, press releases, editorials, op‑eds and other materials to increase public awareness of Medicaid policy changes;
Collaborate with New Futures staff and NH Medicaid Matters stakeholders to ensure coordinated messaging and activities;
Organize and execute events and press conferences for NH Medicaid Matters, including developing event collateral, managing media outreach, and supporting day‑to‑day event logistics;
Work with the Communications Director to assess and report on the effectiveness of communication strategies;
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: This position requires at least one year of work experience or a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized college or university, preferably in communications, marketing, journalism, English, public relations or a related field.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage communications projects with initiative and creativity;
Well‑organized and eager to collaborate with other staff, stakeholders and allied organizations in advancing policy goals;
Excellent attention to detail;
Excellent interpersonal skills to serve New Futures staff, NH Medicaid Matters coalition members, and external stakeholders including vendors, partner organizations, and the general public;
Team player and collaborator;
Ability to develop strong and effective working relationships with diverse and multi‑cultural constituencies including New Futures staff, policymakers, the media, and others;
Excellent time management skills and ability to meet strict deadlines;
Knowledge of MS Office with strong word processing, Excel, database, website, Canva, and social media platforms;
Base-level knowledge of graphic design and video editing;
Willingness to experiment with new media and software to maximize best practices for New Futures and NH Medicaid Matters’ outreach and advocacy efforts.
Hours: This is a part‑time, grant‑funded exempt position for 18 months, with potential for renewal. Hours are up to 29.5 per week with flexible scheduling available.
Compensation & Benefits: New Futures offers competitive part‑time benefits including life insurance; 403(b) retirement with a 5% salary match after one continuous year of employment; paid time off for individual holidays; sick, vacation and personal time; cell phone reimbursement; hybrid work options; and ongoing professional development opportunities, among others. Average salary for this position is $35,000 annually, varying based on agreed‑upon hours.
