Marketing Team Lead (Volunteer)
Mentor A Promise is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children and youth ages 5–18 experiencing housing instability in New York City. Through mentorship, academic enrichment, literacy development, social‑emotional learning, creative expression, and community‑centered storytelling, MAP creates safe, consistent, and empowering spaces where young people can thrive.

About the Role We are seeking a Marketing Team Lead to guide MAP’s marketing strategy, manage campaign development, and support the visibility of MAP’s programs, events, and initiatives. The role is ideal for someone with strong strategic and creative marketing experience who can lead a team, develop cohesive messaging, and build a unified brand presence across all channels.
Develop and lead MAP’s organization-wide marketing strategy.
Oversee marketing campaigns for all MAP divisions, programs, and initiatives.
Manage a team of volunteer marketers, designers, writers, and content creators.
Coordinate brand messaging, visual identity, and campaign themes across platforms.
Collaborate with the Social Media Lead to maintain cohesive storytelling online.
Develop marketing materials, newsletters, promotional content, and outreach materials.
Support recruitment, fundraising, and community engagement campaigns.
Analyze marketing data to refine messaging and campaign effectiveness.
Work with MAP teams to highlight program success stories, events, and milestones.
Ensure all marketing reflects MAP’s mission, values, and youth-centered approach.
Check and respond to emails daily, with responses within 48 hours.
Take responsibility for performance improvement by adjusting strategies based on feedback, analytics, and organizational needs.
Qualifications
Experience in marketing, communications, branding, or digital strategy.
Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a creative volunteer team.
Knowledge of campaign development, audience engagement, and digital communications.
Excellent writing, editing, communication, and organizational abilities.
Familiarity with nonprofit messaging, youth-centered storytelling, or mission-driven marketing.
Ability to work collaboratively across creative, programmatic, and policy teams.
Bonus Skills (not Required)
Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools.
Experience with email marketing platforms (Mailchimp, Constant Contact, etc.).
Knowledge of SEO, analytics, and digital advertising.
Bilingual or multilingual skills.
Commitment
Volunteer role requiring 5–10 hours per week.
Minimum 6‑month commitment preferred.
Remote with optional in-person meetings and events in New York City.
