A Glimpse of the Job

The Communications Coordinator, under general supervision, coordinates, develops and implements comprehensive communication plans to include project management, content production, and written communication for both print and digital mediums for the Division of Finance and Business Services.

Essential Duties/Tasks

Content Creation

Assist in research, interviews, and writing stories for digital platforms

Fields inquiries from the division staff

Helps develop social media strategies, create content, and manage platforms for social media

Creates monthly newsletters for the division and assists in frequent email communication for various initiatives from division leadership

Creates flyers, infographics, banners, videos, signage, PowerPoints, and other written and visual communications for the Division of Finance and Business Services

Create and execute communication strategies for special events and department action plans

Assistance in building marketing briefs and creative storytelling for product launches, in-venue event content, and radio scripts for business development

Websites

Works closely with the team to monitor and review departmental web sites for current UX/UI and accessibility compliance

Manage website edits, content refresh, and ensure information accuracy and compliance approved

Creates digital blogs for communication updates and stories

Assist in visuals update across every website within the division

Assist with content and continuously update and improve the divisions intranet

Project Management

Assist in project management of new initiatives and communication strategies.

Assists in special event planning.

Assist in task delegation and oversite of student workers’ projects.

Data Review

Review analytics and adjust communications to improve results

Continuing Education

Attend trainings to continue to grow and become an expert in your field

What you need to know

Salary: $45,000-$50,000/year

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree marketing, communications, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Three years of communications and/or marketing experience

Experience creating graphics for digital and print communication

Preferred Qualifications

3-5 years of experience working as a communications coordinator, communications specialist, project manager or similar role on a marketing and communications team

Comfortability working within a project management software

Experience with storytelling, writing, and developing communication plans

Experience with website editing, wireframe development, and Search Engine Optimization

Experience with the Adobe creative suite

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly and effectively convey ideas and concepts

Strong attention to detail and grammatical expertise

Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with external stakeholders

Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others

Ability to effectively plan and execute short- and long-term projects, making efficient use of resources, meeting deadlines, and achieving objectives

Motivated self-starter with the ability to bring fresh ideas, individual voice, and enthusiasm to the team

Strong idea generation and creative problem-solving skills.
