We foster innovative design and studio practices, scholarship, and teaching. We affirm that art, design, and visual culture are essential to our students, university, communities, and future. The Department currently offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) in Graphic Design, a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Art, a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Art History, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) in Art with seven concentrations. A minor in Art History and an Honors Program in Art History are also offered.

Thus, the Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions for Non-Tenure Track Faculty should be interpreted in the context of the related departmental and collegiate teaching goals.
Teaching - Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching may include but are not limited to: subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, and grading student work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Hiring is subject to budget availability.
The Department of Art & Art History is seeking a full-time Lecturer in Graphic Design. The candidate will be an innovative educator with a background in graphic design who will contribute to the department's B.F.A in Graphic Design. The successful candidate will teach graphic design courses at the undergraduate level. The Graphic Design program includes courses in digital and 2D foundations, digital and print design, typography, web and UX/UI design strategies, design research and design thinking, as well as senior professional preparation and capstone projects courses. Responsibilities include a 4/4 teaching load, and service on some Department, College, and University committees.
Starts August 10, 2026. Salary and start up package commensurate with qualifications. Nine-month position includes 8 courses per year. Initial contract will be for 3 years.

Minimum Experience/Education

- A terminal degree (M.A. or M.F.A.) in Graphic Design or closely related field from an accredited institution of higher education.
- 1-3 years of successful experience teaching at the postsecondary level in the graphic design or arts field.
- Masters degree in Graphic Design or a closely related field from an accredited institution of higher education, or 3+ years of demonstrated success in the graphic design industry.
- Demonstrated ability to use technology and digital media to support teaching.
