CAD Designer – Automation & Process Improvement Focus Orlando, FL Are you an experienced CAD Designer who’s ready to take drafting beyond the ordinary? We’re looking for a highly skilled professional who can combine strong AutoCAD expertise with Excel-based automation to transform how we deliver utility-scale and MEP projects. This isn’t a typical drafting position—you’ll be building workflows and tools that eliminate repetitive work, reduce errors, and drive efficiency across our design process. Key Responsibilities Drafting & Design: Prepare accurate electrical layouts, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and detail drawings in AutoCAD while maintaining high standards. Excel–CAD Integration: Develop workflows that automatically pull results from Excel into CAD drawings, minimizing manual input. Database Development: Create and maintain structured databases of components (modules, inverters, transformers, blocks, title sheets, etc.) for dynamic referencing in CAD. Automation: Build user-friendly Excel input sheets where minimal project parameters can generate SLDs, elevations, and deliverables. Process Improvement: Standardize CAD blocks, XREFs, and templates into scalable systems that save time and reduce errors. Collaboration: Partner with engineers to translate project criteria into automated drawing outputs. What We’re Looking For 5+ years of professional CAD drafting experience (MEP, electrical, or utility projects preferred). Advanced AutoCAD skills with expertise in XREFs, dynamic blocks, sheet sets, and data linking. Proficiency with Excel formulas, VBA, or similar tools for structured calculations. Experience or strong interest in CAD automation (AutoLISP, Dynamo, Python for CAD, or AI-assisted CAD tools). Familiarity with electrical system drawings (SLDs, grounding, layouts) is a plus. Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects. Why This Role Stands Out This position is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of drafting, database management, and process automation. You’ll play a key role in advancing design automation and shaping how projects are executed—impacting efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across the board.
